Bring them on over and we'll have a shrimp fry. With bait that expensive why go fishing. Might as well eat some good tempura prawns. [razz] [thumbup]

All in all I have had a little better luck with raw white prawn pieces than the smaller cooked salad shrimp. My guess would be because the cooking process changes the scent trail etc left by the bait. If you juice them up with scent I would say its pretty close, but the texture of the cooked shrimp being kinda rubbery makes them hold onto the hook well. Plus they are less nasty in a ziplock etc than raw prawns, but hey we are fishing here and you are gonna get messy. However the leftover cooked shrimp do make a nice snack too when fishing is slow or you have leftovers.

We'll the eggs worked. Cured, packed them in borax, & threw them in the freezer til fishin time. Lost one, and caught one on them so far....bobber doggin. Both times, I didn't see another fish hooked around me. Now I know what you egg guys are talking about. Not sure I'm a total convert though...my heart still lies in drift fishing lures.

The white prawns worked hella sweet today. Fished the Snoqualmie . I used pieces of white prawns and caught two nice fish.(both released ) One was a Dolly that I havent seen in that river in a very long time. Otherr was a 13-15 lb native hen. I let her go . She was silver dollar brite . Had to let her go. It was sooo much fun having a 2fer day. Thanks for the tips on the prawns....Ishould have a picture of it soon as soon as we figure how to send it.

You will always have prawn with you when fishing jigs now. Just not the same without prawn. A jig without prawn on it feels like fishing with a bare hook, of coarse if fishing for sockeye a bare hook can be good.
Glad to here you had a great day fishing!! [thumbsup]

Iwas plunking when using prawns. My two partners were skeptical of the prawns. as soon as I hit the Dolly they changed their minds too. Untill my knee heals all the way I am plunking.I was telling them about my old school gear and the old standard orange/green spin n glo. Thats what got them yesterday. I may be older but Im willing to learn from y'all. Thanks for the tips.

we use while plunking on the skookumchuck and do pretty well, double 1/0 or 2/0 hooks and a piece of dyed prawn on each hook with a silver spin and glo.

Great minds work alike. I use same double hook sizes.I use one piece of prawn with one hook through the meat dangling and the other hook holding the bait.
