I would wager that the real problem is that she's sitting at home bored while you're out. It sounds like she needs some involvement or some quality female friends to take her mind off of the fact that you're gone fishing. I could be off the mark with that, but it seems like these types of problems only really manifest themselves when women are bored and feel neglected.

I'm not married and don't speak from experience like the other guys here, but I think I would attempt to remedy that quickly... even if that means putting off fishing while continually encouraging her to find an activity or friends.

You are really close Fishtank she does have to sit around bored while I am out. It would be better if we had a car I could leave her with but I have to find my own rides to the water. I am putting fishing aside a little bit. Like this weekend there is a big catfish tournie my friend wants me to fish with him but I am avoiding asking I just dropped hints:-" Some of the big conflicts have been resolved recently so it shouldn't be that long to put things aside. I know I would HATE to loose either her or fishing so I got to do what I can...

I have been married for twenty years and it seems to be getting better. It helps that she and the kids love to eat fish. It also helps that I clean them and cook them too, which I really don't mind. She doesn't like to fish, but doesn't mind going for the boat rides, to get sun, read books, etc. Lately, though, our friends have been going fishing with their wives and so she is kind of hinting about going and learning to fish. What is going to be hard is that I am a real patient fisherman. I will work an area for hours and thats what gets her bored. She hasn't been fishing with me for a couple of years. I am OK with her getting in the boat, but when it comes to the duck blind...that is a different story!

My wife likes to fish if: the weather is nice, I fish the way that she likes to fish(she hates it when I work docks for bass), and I leave when she wants to leave. For the most part I think she just wants to be included in what I'm doing, and all I want to do is fish, so half the time she's with me, and the other half she's pissed at me for going anyway....#-o

Ugh, I just have to remember to make her feel more important than chasing Chrome, but sometimes that's all I think about. I even got up at 3:30am today and fished for 2 hours. Hour there, hour back. Now at work and finished off a rockstar and a triple mocha just to keep my eyes open. Losing steam. Yeah, I am over doing it. I offered to buy her some waders and fish with me, but yeah, that didn't fly. My cuteness is slowly losing it's luster as well. Fish on?
Yah, I think mine's startin' to get there too. She's beginning to come up with new and creative ways to try and keep me home.
When times get tough, just keep on fishin'!!!

Yeah, there's the rub, it's the kids/wife combo that keep me off the water. The wife would be out there with me if it were not for the little ones at home and she's not big on getting all the child care responsibility while I go play (can't say I blame her).....even if it makes me an easier person to deal with. :-$ It's been three months and counting since I've picked up the fishing rod. :-({|=

I'm very lucky to have followed my dad's long time advice to marry a woman who likes to fish and camp which are the two things I grew up doing with my dad. My dad told me this because my mom never wanted to camp or fish which ultimately resulted in divorce when I was just 7 years old. So 20 years ago I met my wife and NEVER once has she ever told me not to go fishing. In return I have never told her I didn't want her to go do something she enjoys, in fact I encourage it. I can't imagine living in a relationship where one or the other thought they had any right to object to hobbies the other chooses to enjoy. My wife loves to camp and will go fishin or crabbin with me whenever I like. I think she can take or leave the fishin and crabbin but she has never told me not to go. For that I am thankful.

:sunny: That's why they make pink and lavender rods and have day spa's.....Take advantage of them.....Try a happy Tuesday party for her...Cook a nice piece of fish with a bit of wild rice, asparagus and hollandaise sauce and a nice pastry for dessert along with some Champagne....You have to compromise at times and see her point of view other than the back end of you going out the door.....I have been married for nearly 44 years and so far all is going well....Good Luck to you, Steve

Fly Fishing is the art of attaching a fake bug to a line and relying on the appropriate manipulation of the rod to deceive the fish into eating a sharp steel hook covered with feathers and fur.

I like this idea.

Why? Because guaranteed no matter many women you "marry and then release" until you find one who likes to fish, no woman is going to like losing out to fishing...

We're on boat #3 in, oh, 7 years or so. Why? Because my wife loves to fish. First boat was a 14' open fisherman, great little boat, awesome in nice weather, never fished in cold weather cause she doesn't do cold & wet and frankly neither do I anymore. Enter boat #2, windshield, full canvas, heater, longer, better, more fun. We fished all weather now, and my wife was there every time. Downside was we couldn't take our yellow lab with us, and we got 2-footitis, so enter boat #3, same features as before, bigger yet, even longer, a full 4' fishing platform with the canvas up, legal for 8 people (not that I'd ever put that many on board), and the dog gets to come along much more often. Everyone's happy. :thumright

I have more fun fishing with my wife than anyone else I've ever fished with, she's a true fishing companion in addition to being my bride of 31+ years. We both laugh at the "I'm gonna miss her" song, "she" just didn't know what she was missing. [cool]

Ditto, She has her hobbies and as long as I give her the freedom to follow hers, fair is fair...

But, we always play the game "do you mind if I go fishing tonight/tomorrow/etc.?" I already know the answer, but it keeps the peace. :thumright
Same boat here,..when I start getting grumpy she tells me 2 go fishing then laughs at me if I come home skunked and says I should find a new hobby and laughs somemore,..lol,..she knows better though,..Bassin is tough otherwise she knows I wouldn't like it so much!
