photos that are deemed too large

Post by The Quadfather » Wed Dec 05, 2007 2:43 am

What is the deal with photos that are considered too large to be attached to a post?
If the sollution has been posted already, please forgive me. I try to search these things out.
I am just wondering, is it possible with some future upgrade to make an allowance to send photos that are considered larger than the present allowed photo?

Use Photobucket. I use it.

It's simple. Register for an account (free), upload photos, and copy and paste the link into the reply box.

Otherwise, theres a multitude of internet programs that you can rescale the size of your pics down...

I use Irfan...It was free and it's got all sorts of cool stuff...

I use IrfanView to resize the photos for online. This is what it said when I downloaded it from the internet. I don't know if they have included the Vista OS.

"What is IrfanView ?

IrfanView is a very fast, compact and innovative FREEWARE image viewer/converter
for Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003.

IrfanView is fast and small, with extremely low system resources requirements.
It is trying to be simple for beginners and powerful for professionals."

If you have Windows XP, you can get the "Image Resizer" power toy from Microsoft. Basically, you can go to the picture in Windows Explorer, right click it (or multiple files) and resize on the fly. It's a pretty nice tool. If I remember correctly, you can also have it save as a new file so you don't resize your originals.

That way you don't have to open a seperate program.

You can copy a picture and then resize the copy on paint. It's what I did on my Beaver Lake picture. I resized it, put text in and hid my identity all through paint.

I use Kodak Easyshare software. You can download the software free and load it on to your computer. It is the easiest editing software that I have ever used. I have all my photos in it.
For me using this software, all I have to do is save as "best for email". That is the best size for the site.

Mikey - that's great! It will save me a bunch of time compared to what I had been doing. Thanks for letting us know about it.

Glad it'll help! There's some other fun things there. Some are outdated though.

One additional piece of software that helps with photos is paint.net. It's a free software that's been developed by some of the guys at the UW. It's pretty good for editing and manipulating photos. It's not too advavnced yet, so it'll be a good tool for those who want something free to add text or what not to an image.

With Microsoft Paint you can resize images too, using the stretch/skew option.
