May Site Stats for WL.com

Post by Mike Carey » Mon Jun 04, 2007 5:02 pm

Our first full month with the new version has been a great one. For those into stats, our visits were 199,702 vrs. last year's 130,612. Reports were up slightly, from 550 to 575. The unique visitor numbers were about the same, which tells me you all are visiting more often - thanks! Don't forget to go fishing in-between logging on.

cant knock a ... what? 65% increase?

I have an idea to improve your google organic rankings by doing url rewrites from:

http://washingtonlakes.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=609

to:

http://washingtonlakes.com/Forum/g/posts/609

or what we did recently:

http://washingtonlakes.com/Forum/Announ ... /posts/609 (requires some serious regexp).

It will be interesting to see the views of individual topics go from 100-200 to a 1000. And the replies from 10-20 to 50. The lurkers will increase but I think there are a lot of dedicated anglers around here that are willing to contribute to the greater good of the site. It's an awesome thing when someone shares something that a fellow fisherman didn't know before and they go out and have success doing it.

My point is only that if you google for a topic that the forums here could organically place for (and drive more members), WL doesnt show up. Most likely due to the url garbling that is fairly standard to forums software.
