Quantam InCyte/Tourney Trail Combo

Post by 2000subaru » Sat Dec 29, 2007 10:26 pm

Well, christmas has come and passed. My wonderful wife gifted me with a few rods and reels as presents and I have to say that she followed my specifications, and Dilberts suggestions perfectly. Cabela's delivered everything on time, with the exception of a large tackle bag, and everything looks and works great. I can not wait to get out on the water! Since she was able to purchase the rod/reel as a combo, for the great price of $79 I might add, I feel that I was cheated out of a few things that you would get if purchased seperately. Namely I did not get instructions for the reel, warranty info for the reel, or an extra spool. If I had purchased the gear seperately, $59 for the reel, $49 for the rod, I would have been given these things. Has this happened to anyone else? Did you ask Cabelas to solve the problem? Was it resolved? I have friends who have bought combos of the same price and they came seperate and with al of the accessories. By saving $40, it just doesn't seem right to not get the extra spool and instructions and warranty info. What do you think??

I know BPS ships the rod and reel separately. The reel comes in the original box like it would if you bought it at the store.

So did they ship the rod with the reel mounted on ? That's odd. I dont even know if that would work in a BPS tube. Just give cabelas a call you have nothing to lose.

Reel attached to the rod. I have friends who have ordered Shimano combo's and they came in the Reel box. Get it, reel box! HA. I'll call in a few days when I am home from work. Thanks Daniel

Well an update for ya all. Evidently Cabelas does not even sell the reel with the spare spool as the Quantam website states says it is sold. Kinda confused about that one though. I took Danielt's advise and caled customer service. After about 45 minutes of dealing with 5 customer service and "Product Specialists" I was told basically that by not including the spool and warranty paperwork they were passing a savings on to me in a combo! I called the store in Lacey and they confirmed that they do not sell the reel with an extra spool, so I came off looking like a you know what to the 5 reps I spoke with. Oh Well.

Confused and distraught,

Chris

I say give Quantum the chance to make it right and keep you as a customer. The Quantum site lists one of the features of the incyte reel as "Spare aluminum spool", not "Spare aluminum spool*" If they can't make it right, then come over to Shimano land with two spools a plenty.

*Actual spare aluminum spool may not exist is purchased from Cabelas or as part of a combo from Cabelas.

:-"<--ticket to Shimano land
