Mad River Adventure 14 Canoe

Post by VooDuuChild » Tue Nov 27, 2007 2:53 pm

Last spring, my brother purchased a nearly brand new Mad River Advernture 14 canoe for a steal. Used twice, and in perfect shape with very nice, real lightweight paddles. Anyhow, he works much more than I, so he's probably used it three times to my thirty/probably more times; and I must say, this thing is sweet. When I feel the need to get into a secluded lake for some peace and quiet, there's just no other way to go. I'll leave the big boat (my 12 foot aluminum, hahaha, big) and go snatch up my bro's canoe. There's nothing like paddling silently through the water trolling for unsuspecting fish. While it is somewhat heavier than a standard canoe, this baby is stable, and BY FAR the most comfortable boat I've fished due to the padded reclining seat-backs. I've put ten hours in before with no pain, whereas in my other, and most other boats, I'd be aching pretty dang bad. I can drag it in by myself, get it into my truck by myself no problem. When by myself, the cooler goes up front for ballast, while one of my full size boxes (plano 1234) sits between my legs for ease of accessability; and I sit in the rear. The only time I must sit in the middle is due to high wind conditions, then, there's no problem moving/steering in the water. When I got my buddy or bro's with me, they get the front seat, cooler's in the middle, and I'm in the back (I got better balance then they do, and you will need some good balance launching in the lakes I use it in since shoreline can be at a premium). I've floated down the Stilly in it with my friend up front and her young daughter in the middle and that was a kick in the pants. I know that Joes (formerly G.I. Joes) sells them, as does REI (link below) and I highly recommend this unit to anyone as a secondary or heck, even primary boat if you have a roofrack or truck for transport. It's super sweet!!!!!!! If anyone has any questions about it, feel free to ask.
