Sospenders Inflatable PFD Vest

Post by Mike Carey » Sat Jan 14, 2012 9:27 pm

Well, I found out mine works. #-o Left it laying in the bottom of my boat and the constant contact with with moist flooring activated it. I am impressed at how firmly it inflated. Course, now I have to buy a rearming kit. [unsure]

Guess you should be thankful Mike, ours (though not Sospenders brand) recommend periodic cartridge replacement, something I/we haven't done in the 3 years we've had them. [blush]

My Sospenders inflated inside the boat locker. Seems that tablet is suppose to be replaced every year. Mine was about 15 years old. The tablet was cracked, maybe from moisture, and maybe some from being OLD, like me. [laugh] I got my rearming kit from either Bass Pro Shops, or Cabellas, I forget, and that was only this past late summer. :-k

Pricey are the hydrostatic re-arming kits, they usually run in the $50+ range. They are nicer though as accidental inflation is very unlikely and sugested replacement is every 5 years vice 3 for the tablet style.

Ive actually been looking at these since I bought the drift boat, I swim good but not in my waders, boots, vest, not to mention 35 degree water.

After today I am not planning to go down the river again until I have one. But im a procrastinator so I may...

Have a look at the Guardian series from Cabelas. Very affordable at $99 each, they are on sale at the moment.

I do appreciate being able to wear my vest in the winter w/o being that much more bundled up. When I use my boats on the river a vest is mandatory as far as I'm concerned.

Those are the ones we have, regular price is $149. We got them on sale in Post Falls for $75 each and combined with a $100 gift card were a great buy! My wife wears hers everytime we get on the boat, and routinely forgets she has it on until I remind her she doesn't need to wear it in the truck on the way home. [biggrin]
