RE:Crabbing!
I crabbed once this year in Area 9 off Beckett Point and got a limit. I took my pots down. After 3 outings my neck and back are tweaked. Just thinking about crabbing hurts. LOL..Damned I hate getting older. Nobody mentioned that the word Pain meant over 55 .The worse thing is I went by a empty lot that was cleared with a sign FREE WOOD. There was a huge stack. Im gonna try to go tonite so I can really abuse my body. I guess I'm a glutten for punishment. Good Luck everyone. My normal crabbing area has soooooo many pots. I saw one boat with two guys and six pots. Go figure that one out?

Nice going Jens. The only keeper sized crab I could find on Saturday were red rocks. There are a bunch of 6 1/8" dungies running around in area 10 right now!

RE:Crabbing!
Thanks, area 12 was awesome from everyone we talked to or seen. Being a newb, I was just hoping for 1, but seeing over 16/17 on my first pull and 5 keepers, it was exciting. Of course most were undersized and female. Oh and I forgot gloves, so getting those pinching turds out of the pot was pretty laughable.G-Man wrote:Nice going Jens. Feels pretty darn sore after a few pinches. If the main claw nails you, it can break the finger.if you dip your pot with lil crabs they usually release and back they go.

RE:Crabbing!
Way to break into the crabbing world jens with the traditional pot pull! Pretty good workout pulling a pot full of crab.
That is unless U take the Matt easy way and dip it into 20 feet of water. Geez 20 feet- that aint crabbing, it's playing. Might as well get the rake and waders for them LOL.
Again, nice job.

Oh yah, here is Friday's haul. 1 soak got me my limit while out fishing for Kings with Curado. The fish didn't cooperate, but we had about 10 keepers in 2 pots.
Hate to say it but I had to put my pots in 40 feet that day!
lol

RE:Crabbing!
Hey go easy on me and my old bones there Mr Matt.
I throw ring traps off the local pier in probably 30-40 feet of water and have ONE Dungee keeper this year LOL.
Crack myself up, trying to haul them up fast like I'm gonna have keepers in them, people looking at me kinda funny seeing the old man strain on my face#-o
Ah well, still good exercise:)

RE:Crabbing!
I think the worse pull I did this year is when I had two large starfish in my pot. I thought I had the mother load of crabs. Starfish are heavy suckers.Once I got the pot in my back was fried. I kept going but the starfish kicked my butt (back). The rest of my crabbing this year will be at QFC.Or until my lower back gets loose.
