I just purchased a Humminbird 565 to mount on my Smokercraft Alaskan.
My question is: What type of caulking would you recommend putting on the screw holes?

I don't do really know how to answer your question, but thats a sweet setup you have there...Try calling some marine shops and pose that question to them if you don't get any answers here...

Some marine shops will do little odds and ends like installing Fishfinders for cheap..And they do it in no time...

I run a very similar setup. 12 Lund with a 15 Yamaha...Same trailer..But your boat looks like a 14 footer to me...

Just call some good reputable marina's and see what they say.
I'd contact: 3 Rivers Marine, Auburn Sports and Marine, Mercer Marine, etc...They should know the answer to your question...

You will want to buy a tube of 3M 5200 marine sealant. Stick your screws in to the tube of sealant and turn them to get the screws covered real good before you screw them in to the boat. Also, make sure you measure and mark twice and drill once.

yep 5200 is the way to go. I would also recommend using machine bolts/nuts instead of the screws for mounting the transducer.

I was just curious about the mounting of the transducer on boats such as your Smokercraft.
I have a Lund 14'. I mount my transducer to a piece of water sealed wood which I use a C-clamp to the transom of the boat. I do this because the boat has flooring in it, and rear side seating which is filled of course with flotation foam. Therefor I am wondering do you have flooring in the Smokercraft, which makes the point at which your transom mount screws come through the transom, un-reachable inside the boat (below the flooring?)
I realize I could take up my flooring, but it seems kind of a PIA.

Sam... do you have this flooring in your 12'? If I remember correctly, you have a suction mount.

My Smokercraft has a plastic flooring from the front bench seat to the rear bench. Between the rear bench and the transom is open, no flooring but flat area for battery on one side, gas tank on the other. The center where the plug is is a little lower, maybe 3 inches.

When you go to XYZ marine store, all the sealants will be in one spot. It doesnt matter if you get 3M, Sikaflex, etc etc.

Get sealant or bedding compound. NON ADHESIVE. You don't want to have to fight that later on when you change it. Sikaflex is typically what I use for bedding compound (the stuff you put in to make holes waterproof and prevent water from being trapped between things).

Negative. No flooring like your WC 14 DLX. I wish I did, it makes the surface very flat, but the WC12 is a Semi V, meaning it is a Vhull up front but transitions to a flat bottom with rounded sides, so the bottom of the boat where you are stepping is flat enough for stepping..
