Northwest Fishing Reports

It's been quite a week at the crib here... Our basement flooded. We actually had 3 ft. of standing water at one point. My Minn Kota electric spent about 24 hours under water, of course that means the whole motor including the part where the electronics are. ( the handle):-({|=

Has anyone ever submergered one of these accidentaly? If I let it dry out should it work again?

that was supposed to read as "Submerged" not submergered... sorry.

Not sure about that but I hope the rest of your belongings/house are ok...

yes let it dry out 100% before you run power to it. after it is it will work fine

I 2nd that. I have had a flash drive go through the wash and a cell phone in a dog water dish that were let dry out before turning on and they worked.
Question is how long could that be?

Ive done the cell phone thing to and when that happens I take the battery out and leave it alone for a couple of days.

As for the motor...unless you want to get out on the water anytime soon Id leave it as long as possible unless you can take the case apart and hand dry it out.

I would take off the top cover by the handle where most of the electronics are and let it dry completely before trying it out like already stated from others. I wouldn't worry to much considering these motors are designed to get wet. I have completely submerged mine and have not had any problems after the fact.

Let it dry completely. Keep it in the hall closet for a couple weeks and then test it. I am not sure that I would remove the cover on the control head, though.

Odds are that your MinnKota will be fine.

E-mail the company, they may have some good tips.

Thanks for your input guys... I just was glad to hear no one came back with a story of bad luck in a similar situation.
