Technically a Jig and pig, is a bass jig, with a Uncle josh pork frog trailer. Some people call it jig and pig and its really a jig and plastic crawfish combination. Either way, you are fishing a jig, and jigs catch big fish. Just fish them slow. I hadn't started catching big fish, over 5 lbs, until I started fishing slower, especially with a jig. Anyway, I'll try to find a pic for you.

Edit: What a guy I am ;) ;) http://www.tackletour.com/reviewunclejoshjig.html Check that out, put the hook through the little slit in the pork, if you use pork. Otherwise, hook your plastic crawdad on it anyway you like, I'd run the hook through it 1/2- 1 inch and let it hang.

Hey trout, ChrisB is right on the money. This technique is great for big bass and the tool to use for beading bass. Slllowwwww is the way to go. I have found that if you don't want to mess with the canned pig part of it, using the back half end of a brush hog works really well too. I have a picture of one in my photobucket in the BAITS section, 6th row down 4th pic. It is a pic of a homemade chatterbait but you can get the idea of what I am talking about. Any plastic trailer added to a jig will help the profile and add to the action of any jig.

What weight/color of jigs are most common for jig-n-pig fishing around here? What are the favorites for the trailers?

i use dark colors like black/blue & black/purple for stained water and i use natural colors like watermelon, pumpkin, or brown for clear water. 3/8oz is a good size, at least i think so.
