First Fish On A Fly Rod

Got home from school today, walked about a mile to a pond thats about 2 acres. Only took my fly rod, and some wooly buggers. After abou 2 hours of nothing, I finally had a hook up. Thought it was a bluegill at first, but once I landed it, to my surprise, it was a tilapia!
Fun fish to catch, my first tilapia too. My uncle use to catch them all the time.

Right on man. I love to fly fish. It can be addicting. Many hours have been spent in the yard practicing technique. Now that you caught the first and it's out of the way the sky is the limit. Tying flies, river trips, different species, bigger fish!
Keep it up.

Thanks man, Ive been thinking about tying flies, I get $100.00 in about a week and am debating on whether buying a whole bunch of fly tying gear, or some new bass gear or even a new rod. And it is very addiciting.

LOL![laugh]45 years later and my pulse raises every time I see a body of water where the fish are rising. Addicting is putting it lightly.[rolleyes]

And thats how it begins. Next thing you know you'll be looking at every body of water for risies. Studying every bug on the beach. Learning how to remove a fly from your ear loab without your buddy noticing. Clipping hair from the dogs tail to tie that last fly. Eyeing road kill for good feathers or fur. One rod is too many and fifteen isn't enough. >:"":>

And don't forget Sparky, walking through the bird section of the Woodland Zoo and saying, "Hey, guy, do you mind I could borrow a few of those breast and tail feathers?"[love]

Even when I'm at church during the worship songs and they're showing pictures of bodies of water, I tell myself "There are fish in that water and I'll bet they'd take a Royal Coachman on a slow drift."

Genesis 9:2 God said to Noah
The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands.
It may take a net though.
