The water temp was 73. The weather was mostly sunny. It was hot until 10:15am when the wind and clouds came in. Our time there was 8am-12pm.
Our downriggers went from 17 to 39 feet. But there was more action on our long-lined rods 5/8oz and 1/2oz 40-60 feet back. I was using corn but my son said it didn’t seem natural not to use worms. I only had one nightcrawler left so he used it up. He caught 4 kokanee and a trout. At the end he shared a tiny bit of worm and I got my one trout.
Lake level was 1,186.1 feet which means barley room for a smaller boat on the docks.
In all 4 kokanee and 2 trout were caught. Adipose fin on the 4 kokanee that 2 look to be misclipped and 2 without the fin.

Good for you, always nice to learn something new. Since the corn has a starchy scent and the worms are a natural bait, your video showed fish followed and closed-in enough the strike- but didn't--- over 85 different times. No scent on the corn, I presume? There were 11 fish hooked on the line.... I really see the value of baiting only the forward hook leaving the rear one unimpeded. I found if the worm just covers the straight part of hook (shank) This doesn't cause line twisting as a bit of worm on the curve of the hook or excess worm following loose behind. Especially when using lighter weights when long lining.Seems more hydrodynamic. Thanks for the video!

As a kid, I used to catch night crawlers at night with a red cellophane covered flashlight lens. After grabbing the worm section above ground, wait until just after it contracts the head to go back in the ground, then pull lightly. May take tow-three times depending on soil density. Sold them to area fishermen for 2 cents a worm for candy money. Would get 150 or so a night after sundown. The tail section part that contracts towards the head, when cut off- will last 1/3 as long as the head section so bait that end first. Always keep the sections on the hook with the head (or lack of) pointed towards the eye of hook- good to leave 1/8" of bitter end of knot to stop worm from crawling up the leader. Otherwise they contract towards the barbed end and foul that from setting in cartilage. The unused head ends in the worm bucket can grow a tail but not. vice-versa. Double hooking works great especially with light leader, but trolls in a spiral to wind your line- just troll with only a snap swivel to straighten line again using a spinning reel.
