what knot do you guys like to use to connect braid to mono or fluoro for leader? no swivels, just the knot, ive been using the albright but it always gets stuck in the guides a little and gives me a backlash, ive tightened the knot down and its small, but that backlash problem is annoying me haha

Yup. Make sure you wrap each of those knots at least 7-8 times (most important for the braid), otherwise it'll slip.
Here are some good knots for braid if you're interested: http://www.powerpro.com/publish/content ... knots.html

Modified Albright knot, best by test and actually quite easy to tie. I also like the low profile of the finished knot, it slips though the guides and levelwind guide quite easily.

I'm going to give this a shot this year, John Collins/another modified albright... easy to learn and fast to do: loop, thru, 5 up, 5 down, thru, snug, jerk, trim.
I use modified alrbight, it works great. I've had no problems casting the knot through the guides or reel using the curado 201, which has a fairly small line guide. It's strong, and I have the confidence to use a 6-8 foot 8lbs top shot with fluoro during the summer steelhead low and crystal clear water. Other knots I wouldn't trust, the strength is less than the 6 lbs fluoro that I use for leader.

ill have to try these out! and how long do you guys leave the tag ends? for both of them, i think that may be whats causing me to backlash, maybe my tag end is hitting the guide and therefore causing that small backlash in mid cast?

Cut it down as close as you can after you fully cinch the knot. Get some superline scissors to do it right.

Yeah, just give it a little spit and it's slippery as you please.
