Shore fishing at American Lake with kids

Hi all,

I'm thinking of taking the kids fishing at American Lake this weekend.. We don't have a boat, so we would be fishing from shore.

Can anyone offer any tips for fishing there, as far as where to fish, what to use, etc. It's probably been 30 years since I last fished there. Any input is much appreciated. : )

We're fishing for trout.

Go to the marina and have them get you set up. They'll charge per seat on the dock they'll also tell you how to set up the rig and what to use for bait. After that you can head down the street and go out on the city dock or lawn chairs at the WDFW launch/access point. Pretty easy, slip sinker and power bait.
Go have some fun! Bring lots if snacks and stuff for the kids.

Thanks Bodofish! We ended up not going because we got off on a tangent, but we'll certainly try again sometime.

Anyone know of any other good places around Tacoma to take kids fishing?
